My Story...
Hi,
My name is Seph. Put simply, my story starts with a joint love of music and making/fixing things! Anything wooden or old had me fascinated from about the age of 13. If it produced a musical sound all the better.
So I finished school in 2015 and went to study a BSc Hons in Musical Instruments at London Metropolitan Uni, where I learnt the old craft of Luthiery. It was also there my keen interest in instrument history, and the abundance of different and unusual instruments that exist in the world, started.
I then returned to my hometown of Frome, and worked for a music shop initially as a guitar, banjo and piano teacher, and then as an instrument repair and restoration technician, working mainly on pianos, and stringed instruments. During this period I built a few instruments, some I sold, but primarily for the passion of it.
In June 2025 I started Krige Folk Instruments, offering repairs, restorations and custom builds of guitars, banjos, mandolin family instruments, and any folk instrument you might have that needs some tlc. I love the weird and wonderful!
Outside of my workshop, you'll probably catch me at a folk jam somewhere in Frome or the surrounding area, playing a bit of banjo, double bass, guitar, or singing.
Thanks for reading!
